Whoo-hoo on the pump and nursing gear!

Dump the formula, I say. I left mine in the bassinet. Lourdes is GREAT at care but my "breastfeeding support bag" was supplied by Enfamil and had two freezer packs and a sample of formula. Oh it did have a 1 page pamphlet about breastfeeding and how to supplement, you know, "just in case". Insert  here.

That's great on the other stuff, though! What kind of pump did you get? I'm very jealous. Both mine from Josh died after a few uses when I brought Leah home. I'm thinking of buying one to have a little stash for the future, but not sure if it's really worth it. I swore off all things pump oriented once Josh weaned. One of them came in handy a bit during those first few days home, for sure!

i had bought a pump in anticipation of the first few days of "too much milk for 15 babies" but the nurse started talking about how she had a pump to give me if i wanted one--so i guess the new thing is that they are giving pumps out to the breastfeeding moms--it's a hand pump--the harmony by medela--i don't know anything about it but that:
a. it works
b. it's the best thing since sliced bread for this postpartum chick

yay for free stuff!!! hopefully you won't need the formula but, you never know! sometimes babies decide on their own to stop breastfeeding (judah for example). so i wouldn't chuck the formula just yet......

moms who give their babies formula are good moms too :)

i agree w/ sarah-moms who give their babies formula are good moms too=) hannah is NEVER sick-that's one of the arguments but i won't get into that-to each his own-right? i learned w/ aiden to take all the free stuff i could get and boy did i get a lot-not just the formula that SOME people think is poision=) but lots of other really cool useful things including the breast pump-that did get used for the first few months because yes an effort was made=) you deserve the freebies after all your hard work carrying your little girl around-you and her look like you're doing wonderful michelle!

Deep breath ladies.

My comments were referencing my BREASTFEEDING support bag. The nurse specifically asked which I wanted, I replied bfeeding support bag. I was expecting some good nursing gear, maybe some lansinoh, ect. I was frustrated that my bfeeding bag was supplied by a formula company and didn't have any nursing support items, but instead formula, a bottle and formula advertising.

Had I requested a formula bag, those items would have been expected, appreciated and appropriate.

Nowhere did I suggest formula feeding moms are using poison or are bad. (Amy, you know me better than that.)

And, yes, I'll reassert that formula "just in case" on the way out the door is generally subversive to moms who are dedicated to bfeeding.

However, since this isn't a debate board but my lovely friend's celebration blog-- I'll leave it at that. ;)

i understand about the breastfeeding support bag meg--i got the same one--with a huge can o formula at the bottom--i thought it was strange they didn't have applicable coupons for like breastpads and no lotion. weird!

ALSO, i support every mama's right to choose what to use for her baby--breastfeeding or formula--whatever works for your family is what is best!

i think it's a wonder any of us survive =-)
