the good, the bad and the ugly

the good news
* m.v.w. is doing well! kicking me all the time and squirming about!
* i am doing well--i've gained another pound and and still alive even after waking up about 10 times a night to go to the bathroom (i know, t.m.i.!)
* my breast pump came in the mail yesterday so now we are all set for m.v.w. to arrive--if only i hadn't packed everything we've bought for her in anticipation of the move that might not ever be...which brings me to:
the bad news
* still no apartment news...do we stay or do we go?
* it's HOT outside---so hot that i refused to go anywhere yesterday until i had to go to the doctor's! my poor stir crazy toddler!
the ugly news
* i'm having a bad hair day!

today amelie and i are heading to the picture people for a photo shoot--we haven't been in forever b/c i haven't been pleased with their service/end result, so we'll see how today goes! i just wanted to do something fun, free and different! i also have coupons for gymboree and childrens place so maybe we'll find some cute new duds for fall!

here is a vintage amelie picture (circa august 2006)

Did you get an electric BP? I would HIGHLY recommend one...course if you didn't need to pump much for Amelie then who knows you will most likely be good for this one too and they are really pricey....but from my own experience, I think I might have died , literally, if on top of everything else I had a manual pump (then again I was pumping 8-9 times a day and dealing with a lot of extra "crap") I even found something that I will most deffinately get if I need to pump like that agian- its this bra like contraption that allows the pump to "stick" to you so that you don't have to hold it- its called hands free breast pump bra- or something like that...anyways I guess it depends on what your "plan" is....I have heard good things about the other pumps too, but if you had to pump all the time, I think an eletric one would be worth the $....

and yeah for good health!!

oh and I think you are right about the HOT MOMMAS!!!:) ha ha nice one!

Ah. Sheri. Are you a fellow Exclusive Pumper? Over the first 16 months of Josh's life I became something of a Pump Guru. I loved my hands-free system and my big ol' double electric hosptial grade pump. I also liked my small double electric, my Avent handheld isis...ect ;)

Michelle- You got a good one for occasional pumping. Here's hoping MVW will give you a few opportunities to use it!

i didn't put the money out for an electric b.p. b/c i am hoping this baby is as fond of nursing as amelie was--i really just wanted to get one for relief from fullness (to put it mildly, i struggled the 13 months i nursed with amelie with TOO MUCH of a good thing) and also so that i can go shopping and not have to whip out a boob in public! that's the plan anyways. man i am starting to get excited about meeting this baby of mine!

I am *hoping* to breastfeed AND go back to work part-time, so am pretty much decided on the originial "Madela Pump In Style"... any tips?

I've seen pictures of that hands-free one- wildly sexy, but I might have to wait on that purchase to see how things go.

LOVED the gangsta baby pic of Amelie- totallly cute. Incidentally, we are going to pass on Rose for baby's middle name too! Awwah! Jason suggested Isabella... but I'm still loving Audrey. We'll see!

Emily-- You've got a good pump. I didn't use it personally, but have only heard rave reviews from fellow users.

When I didn't use an "official" hands-free, I just unclasped my nursing bra, hooked up and then reclasped. It took a bit of practice, but after a week or so I was completely hands-free w/out any special bras. Lansinoh cream also helped keep the horns in place.

Michelle- Look at all this bfeeding talk! Next thing you know you'll be heading off to La Leche with me. ;)

breast feeding was one of the best things i felt i could do for amelie--it worked really well for us and although it was a huge committment and inconvenient it helped me fall in love with her a little more! hopefully things go as smoothly this time--and i'll only need my pump so daddy can be my pinch hitter. i read really good things about the medela--just too pricey for me to consider as i'm only using the pump for convenience!
emily--i love both the names! you can't go wrong =-)

Michelle- sounds great! Glad you had such a good experience, not that you need my approval, but your plan sounds good:)

Yes, yes yes, Em- thats the one I had- and of course the hands free is wildly sexy!!!

Megan- yes I unfortunately did not have Michelle's luck...but thats a LONG story- we did pump for a while though and I am glad I did...I tried to check out your blog, but when I clicked on your name there was all your info but no blog- sometimes that happens and I don't know why.....
