keep rollin' rollin' rollin' rollin' (obscure 90s rock song reference)

my baby can roll over!

she can also balance my checkbook, count to 10 in Spanish and leap tall buildings in a single bound! so what can your baby do?

to my lovely little one on turning 2 months old

sweet baby maeve-
i can't believe you have already been with our family for two months--they have flown by! i can't get enough of you and have spent these days and nights trying to memorize your face, your sweet newborn smell and the weight of you asleep on my shoulder. these months have been the absolute happiest of my life--i am blessed beyond words to be a mama to two sweet girls.

there was a time when i wasn't sure the Lord would bless me with a new little one. you see, for as much as i've been blessed this year i was tried and tested the year before. there are two little weber babies that you won't get to meet until we all get to heaven--two sweet babes that my arms ached to hold and my eyes ache to see. there is some good news in this--my two little heaven-living little ones never had to settle for this sinful world--they were taken straight away into the Father's loving arms. i am so happy that they will never be sad or hurt or sullied by the things of this world but i can't help but wish i had been able to meet them, BUT by His grace i will one day! what a blessing to have hope in the Lord--He is a restorer of all good things and one day in Heaven our family will be whole.

there are times i look at you and wish that you could stay my baby forever. i never want our night rocking-hymn singing-soft cooing times to end. yes, you will grow up no matter how hard mama tries to keep you small and i will be proud of all you learn, and do and of who you become--i honestly can't wait to see it!

maeve--i pray many things for you but especially that you will grow to love the Lord and live for Him. He has given us so many good things. the best gift He gave us was the chance to live with Him in glory--God sacrificed His own Child to save many children here on earth and i pray everyday that you will except His gift of salvation and grow to walk with Him.

i love you sweet girl! i cherish every precious moment that the Lord has given us together.

all my love, forever and always,
mama

amelie's musical debut!

amelie sang in the children's christmas program tonight at church and it was pretty much the cutest thing ever! mama shed a few tears over how big her little girl has become! the 2s and 3s choir was so precious! amelie did an awesome job on stage and even got to sing with the class above her sunday school class (the 4s and 5s). she's a little super star!
amelie is sitting in the middle and stands up half way through the song (Gospel Bells to the tune of Jingle Bells).

that rare creature known as "two children sleeping at the same time" has come to call on the weber household...wait--why am i blogging? i oughtta be SLEEPING!!!

total recall

conversation had with amelie yesterday about 15 billion times

amelie: may i have some barbie skates please?
me: your birthday is coming up amelie--you will get presents then!
amelie: what about the barbie skates?
me: yes amelie, you just have to wait until your birthday to get them.
amelie: barbie skates are cute mommy.
me: i know honey, but you must stop asking mommy for them all the time, ok?
amelie: ok mommy.
me: thank you!
amelie: can i have some george skates?
me:....

btw--my dsl is totally dead so i'm working on a lap top from the stone age on dial up! it took me 30 minutes to check my email and i'm NOT exaggerating! AHHHH!

my first thanksgiving

this is what i did on my first thanksgiving! yep...that's ALL i did...

Wednesday, November 21, 2007

it's thanksgiving and i'll cry if i want to...

maeve cried her first real tear yesterday!

upon seeing granny and pop pop leave to get groceries amelie stood at the door and said, "where did granny and pop pop go? i think they went to target..."
this made me laugh b/c
a. there aren't many target in ny and they are all far away
b. amelie thinks that all shopping trips involve target...well...they do in the weber household anyways!

granny let amelis have a present early--she's been dressed as a barbie princess for 24 hours now--with no end in sight!

what are you trying to do amelie? i'm trying to take your head off mama!!

so amelie was sitting on my lap at the computer the other day and we were playing some online games--i think pingu or something...anywho--she started pushing on the bottom of my chin and yanking at my head so i asked--what are you trying to do amelie? she replied matter of factly--i'm trying to take your head off mama! where did she pick THAT up? ha! so all day she's been trying to take off her own head and telling me that "it's stuck!!" and trying to take off daddy's head and my head...

it's weirdly hilarious--so i thought i'd write it all down because i don't want to forget any of these moments--it goes too fast! my little baby girl maeve is already starting to "fill out" her 0-3 month clothes...sadness! she's 4 weeks old today! it's totally been the fastest and best 4 weeks of my life! i'm so thrilled with our little family and thankful that they're mine!

what's going on?

a list of the new things amelie and maeve can do:
amelie:
* currently obsessed with barbie (i have no idea how this happened). likes to wear any dress that looks like a "princess barbie dress" and wants to have a princess barbie castle.
* loves to "pet" her sister and talk to her
* has long conversations with us (the other day daddy was tuning her out a bit and she said, "talk to me daddy!"
* declares, "oh no!" whever she doesn't get her way.

maeve:
* started to coo a bit on thursday
* slept for 5 hours straight during the night (twice, but it's a start!)
* holding her head up and looking around--she's really strong!
* maeve is very content--never cries, sleeps well, eats well--Praise the Lord!
* had her first big girl bath today since her gross belly button now looks healed, albeit, still gross

shelly got some sleep!

it's some kind of miracle that kiddos can sense when you've been pushed to the edge of how much you can tolerate and then they surprise you by being fabulous...or in this case, by sleeping peacefully for 4 hours straight. you're the best maevey baby, now let's keep up the this trend!! even amelie got in on the action and went to bed by 9--this sounds late but is worlds better then 10:30! yay for my girls and one peaceful night!!

all i asked for was a weight check but ended up with C.H.O.P

what. a. day.
this is the kind of day that every mama has nightmares about...we went to the pediatrician for miss maeve's first appt./weight check today and it went well. they had us in bright and early and she already weighs 7 pounds 1 ounce (she was just 6/11 on monday! yay for good breastfeeding skills!). the doctor said she is doing beautiful BUT she heard a slight murmur in her heart. this wasn't a surprise because the first time the doctor examined her in the hospital she thought she heard a little murmur, but then the second doctor didn't hear one and then today--it was magically back again...

so, she referred us to the cardiologist and they rushed us into an appt. immediately following our ped. appt. i had a slight emotional breakdown in the car--i am head over heels for this baby and any bad news was pretty much devastating to me...
so, i made steve leave work and we headed to the cardiologist at CHOP (they have an office in voorhees). first of all, the cardiologist was one of the most handsome--movie-star type men i have ever seen--like 6'4'' and looked like denzel washington--(i'm allowed to say this b/c even my husband agrees! he was super nice and knew immediately that her murmur wasn't dangerous but was concerned because she had a weak pulse in her feet/legs. he ordered an ultrasound of her heart to check the condition of her aorta.

ultrasounds take 20 minutes. maeve is just a few days old and had already been at the doctors for about 4 hours...did i mention they are supposed to lay still for 20 minutes! yikes!

maeve is a champion. she was perfect--she didn't move at all and even eventually fell asleep (even though she only ate for about 20 minutes all morning since we were feeding under cover between doctors etc...).

so apparently her aorta is fine BUT she has a thickened wall in one of the chambers of her heart that could be one of 3 things:

1. thicker heart b/c i had problems with sugar during pregnancy (like diabetes--which i tested neg. for but if i had high glucose it could have affected her heart). if this is the case it should clear up when we go back in 2 months.

2. the muscle fibers are on the side of the chamber so it could appear to be thick even though it isn't--it could be just that it's hard to tell cause she's tiny. this also should appear to disappear at a later date.

3. one of two strange genetic problems that could be degenerative in nature. this is the bad one-which the doctor thinks it isn't, but there is always a possibility. he says that kids with either of these problems usually have a strange appearance, weird coloring--both of which maeve doesn't have.

so, that was our day! it was horrible. i cried a lot--i'm sure the lack of sleep and hormones didn't help.

maeve's FIRSTS for the day:
* doctor's appt.
* outing into the world
* shot
* ekg
* heart ultrasound
* breastfeeding in public (my LEAST favorite..)

i think that's enough for one day....don't you?

oh wait! amelie had a FIRST too--

she saw me use the breast pump for the first time and said, "i can squeeze it mama!" so of course, i let her squeeze it...so amelie is now a certified lactation consultant! ahh! never let a toddler squeeze the breast pump! owwwwy hahahha =-)
