beauty and the beast

you know how sometimes kids are so fabulous they take your breath away and then 5 seconds later the beast within is unleashed and they are completely unrecognizable? well--that was our world this morning! my lovely little amelie was sooo excited all morning that her friends were coming over--she kept talking about it and was so happy! well, then our dear friends came and she had the worst temper tantrum i have ever seen--REALLY! it was horrible! and of course now that they are gone she is totally normal and happy--so a great big sorry to hannah and aiden--amelie loves you so much she lost her mind! please come and play with us again and we'll try to keep the beast at bay!

toddlers toddlers everywhere and not a spot to sit!

i've said it once but i'll say it again--it's AMAZING how much our circle of friends has enlarged due to the population boom our sunday school class has experienced! i invited some of our friends over yesterday and with 5 ladies we had a total of 9 kiddos (all 3 and under!). we kept it to a dull roar and the kids had tons o fun playing together as soon as amelie got over her anxiety at sharing all her things =) we piled the big kids on the couch together for a group shot which is hilarious if not exactly successful.

the three littlest members of our families were kept safe and far from the mayhem as to keep them intact--we'll have to get a picture of the three newest girls together soon! i'm also going to have another playdate soon to invite the rest of our friends since we can't all fit in my tiny living room at the same time! yikes! it was a lot easier when we each only had one kiddo (but definitely not as wonderful!) =)

the princess(es) and the play date

thanks to miss amy for letting our kiddos make a colossal mess at her house! amelie had fun playing princess with hannah and i'm sure the boys had fun with their very masculine trains and soccer balls! =-)

a dime a dozen

12 things
1* after a rash of horrible haircuts/hair experiences that involved a salon and too much money i decided to cut and color my own hair last night. how did i do? i don't see styling in my future, ha!

2* maeve slept well last night in her new bed--we got one of those little co sleeper beds because the pack and play just doesn't seem close enough for those 3 am wake up calls (not to mention the wake up calls at 11, 12, 1, 2 and so on...) the irony of this is that she slept so well in it--3 hour stretches at a turn that i didn't even need to be close for wake up calls--best $40 ever spent.

3* amelie loved this little bed and tried to "sleep" in it last night. she kept saying, "baby sister's bed is cute mommy!" and then she folded herself inside of it and screamed again and again, "i'm too big! i'm too big!" it was pretty cute so we let her pretend to sleep in it for a little while before bed.

4* oh crap, maeve just barfed on me...

5* ok, maeve is asleep now b2b (back to blogging..)

6* oops, that's amelie's door opening...

7* here is a smushy face picture of me and maeve since i haven't taken any yet. btw, it's super hard to take a smushy face picture with a newborn....yikes

8* ok, i guess maeve wasn't really asleep

9* i'm going to TRY to do some scrapbooking with a good friend from my working days (it's a wonder i can even remember being a productive professional!). we'll see how scrapbooking with 2 children goes =-)

10* i know what you're thinking, YES i can blog and breastfeed at the same time, i am just that talented...ha!

11* my cell phone had a run in with a sippy cup yesterday and is now completely stone cold dead and i am disconnected from the world (and by world i mean the only 2 people who call me--my mother and husband).

12* i think my sarah and her family are going to visit me today (yay!)...i wish i could tell them that my cell is broken but since every number i need is programmed into my cell phone and written nowhere therefore, i'm going to have to learn to do one of the following:
a. smoke signals
b. telegraph machine
c. telegram
d. skywrite

bonus blog tidbit
**13 bumbo seats have been recalled--this really just involves getting a new label because the seats shouldn't be used on an elevated surface....well duh!

happy birthday hannah and aiden!

today amelie and maeve had their first big kid birthday party. our friend hannah turned 3 today while her brother aiden turned 2! their mama had two babies on the same day--just a year apart! i can't believe how time flies, it seems just like our yesterday our "little" 3 year olds were born!

amelie had a blast eating pizza, cupcakes, ice cream, playing pin the patch on diego's vest, and with all her little friends and just taking in the general splendor.

maeve slept.

we were lucky enough to have the help of the granny of the east who was on amelie duty while i was on maeve duty--fyi--i think i got the easier end of the bargain ;) amelie didn't want to leave (especially since i'm pretty sure she thought she'd be able to take home at least one of the presents) but had some outdoor fun with granny when we got home while mama attended to little sister's needs. it was a lovely day and i'm totally glad i didn't have to clean up after 10 toddlers, their parents and little baby siblings!

pick a title: the Lord works in mysterious ways; i take back what i said about becoming a hermit; can someone please pry the baby out of my ribcage?

so, i tried to continue my hermit-like streak but ran into some complications today! amelie slept in like a precious angel and we made a trip to walmart to pick up some odds and ends--including this cow flashlight which she loves! we then spent about an hour with steven--let me just say, i LOVE being close by his school!!! amelie spent a lot of time playing the drums and with the various "toys" available in daddy's room.

upon coming home we spied two little boys playing outside with their mama and so amelie wanted to sit outside and watch them play. they eventually came over to introduce themselves to us and it turns out they were people i've been dying to meet--i just didn't know it was them! the mom's name is alejandra and she's from guatamala and is living here with her 9 mo. and 2 y. old son and her husband works at a hospital in philly. my pastor's wife had told me about her months ago while we were planning our move to heights and i've never been able to meet her in person until the Lord brought us together today! she is a sweetheart and i'm hoping this baby comes along soon so we can start walking together--as she loves to walk and i need to!

i'm so excited to get to know her and her family better! God is good, i'm glad i failed at being a hermit today or i might not have gotten to meet her so soon =-)

wednesday is a wonderful day for a birthday!

amelie and i had a very nice morning at the park with our friends the smith's and upon coming home received the excellent news that our good friend miss megan had her baby this morning! yay for little leah, we can't wait to meet you!
nothing quite that exciting is going on in the weber household...but technically it can't be THAT much longer....so, here's to hoping that it's sooner rather then later!

in other news, amelie has been working on her biking skills...she still isn't pedalling (even though she can) but prefers pushing her bike along by foot--at least she's easier to catch this way!

i could get used to this!

what a lovely day to see all of our friends at the park! there's nothing better then a little quality time with friends to make your day brighter! it's beautiful outside--fall is my favorite (if only it didn't mean that winter was coming!!).
before meeting our friends at the park, amelie slept in till 9 (yay!!) and then we headed off to get her flu shot. she hasn't been to the doctors in agessss so she was a little perplexed and nervous about being there! i was feeling guilty for getting her an "elective" shot but would hate to see her get the flu this year if we can prevent it! the doctor came in and gave her the shot and she didn't cry at all! she just looked at me, held the arm OPPOSITE to the one that got the shot and said, "ow, mommy!" she continued to tell me that the arm that didn't rec. the shot hurt--which made me laugh a little--but she forgOt all about it once we got to the park and saw all of our buddies!
oh yeah, and if one more stranger proclaims i must be due any minute i'm not gonna answer nicely! maybe i'll just keep maeve around forever because i LOVE being 9 months pregnant just that much....on second thought...maybe not! i find the surest answer is always to say--oh, i'm overdue--so any day now! ha!

maeve is moving along--and right up and into my rib cage! here's the update on my still belly bound baby!
Week 38
Your Baby's Development
This is the week in which Baby begins to outgrow the watery home where she's been developing these past nine months. Baby should weigh almost seven pounds this week, but at a length of about 21 inches, Baby hasn't grown much taller. The average full-term newborn weighs between six and nine pounds and is 18 to 21 inches long.

Here are a few other developments this week:

Although Baby's growth is slowing, fat will continue to accumulate to help insulate Baby even more for her entry to the outside world.
Meconium (Baby's feces) will continue to build up in her intestines.
By now, the circumference of baby's head and abdomen are about the same.

aw, my favorites

as a special treat, we were able to squeeze in a quick visit with some of our favorite people ever. being in a room with old friends is like being able to breathe again. i love you sarah rose, i always feel more myself when we are together! amelie had a blast playin' with her pal juju and kept asking him to play soccer, which i think is funny, since i didn't know she knew what soccer was.

amelie gave us the old familiar-"i dont take naps on weekends" battle but was finally coaxed to sleep by dear old dad. well, i'm off to wake the beast and then to a family reunion of our own! here are some more judah and amelie pictures!
