it's been a while crocodile

so, i haven't posted in a while because amelie refuses to let me take her picture. for the last month whenever she hears the camera turn on she screams and cries and throws herself to the ground. so today i thought i would try again and i got a few shots, nothing to write home about, but hopefully our camera phobia is on the way out the door. too bad she's got her unruly rocker hair today (refusal to wear barrettes or head bands or rubber bands or anything to keep it in place) and is eating a tape dispenser, go figure.
i am happy to report that after spring break amelie and i only have to endure 10 more weeks of school and then we'll be together all summer, it's like a dream come true, i miss that kid of mine when i'm teaching! i was trying to think of any new "tricks" she has but she's such a big girl she can do it all, she sings and talks and dances really superbly (even did the tango with daddy the other night, CUTE!!), she eats like a big girl and even tries to get dressed like one. i love her so much, she fills my heart with JOY! what a good thing to be a parent, i highly recommend it.

i baptize you in the name of boredom and crazy shenanigans

today i went in to get amelie up from her nap (mama slept slightly longer then her, oops!) and she was running around her crib gleefully sprinkling water from her sippy cup all along the rails of her crib. it was cute and she was really enjoying herself so i ran to get the camera and when i came back she saw the "cammy" in my hand and started screaming, put down the cup and rolled around the crib screaming "NO!" and "Help ME!!!". so, i did what any good parent would and documented the tantrum. i can't believe she hates the camera so much today! she's usually a little ham! something new everyday i s'pose!

scar face

so amelie went to the park today, it was BEAUTIFUL outside. when daddy came from work to pick her up she was let to run to him down a concrete sidewalk and smashed her face. i wasn't very impressed but these things happen. here's my little scar face, who seems to be doing just fine after some pampering (a bubble bath in which she ate her pudding pop and mine =-).

U Can't Touch This...

....or take a picture of it either! I was just trying to capture a few shots of Amelie in action when she put her finger on the lens of the camera--I was surprised the picture still came out!

Little Amels Apple Seed

Today I gave Amelie an apple to eat for lunch. I peeled it and put it on her plate while I was fixing my lunch. I came to collect her plate about 10 minutes later and couldn't find the apple (usually she takes 3 bites and hides it somewhere like in the toy chest or her toy kitchen). I looked around and saw it was in her shopping cart with her drink--but it was only 1/2 inch big! She ate the whole apple except the tiny core part. I couldn't believe it, it made me laugh that she was so ravenous for an apple! I took a picture to commemorate the event!

daddy's my best friend

now-a-days when steven is at work, amelie likes to carry around a picture of him to keep him close by. she shows him things (like on tv or on her plate) and talks to "him" when he's at work. it's precious, she loves her daddy!

WHOA!

We had a major ice storm a week or so ago and on the walk to the car everyday amelie discovered that it was very slippery...everywhere. i usually ended up carrying her but on the occasion when she did walk she would inevtiably slip and flail her arms and say, "whoa!!!! whoa!!!" it was cute. anywho, the other day she was walking in the living room and all of the sudden was flailing her arms and saying WHOA! yay, she was pretending to slip which was cute and hilarious. so now she knows that i think it's funny and it always "slipping" and "whoaing" everywhere we go. she's a commedianne.
yes, this picture is totally unrelated. she was just channelling mozart for a bit.

one wild and crazy girl

amelie woke up with some extraordinarily crazy hair today so i had to document it. she fills me with joy so that at times i feel i can't possibly take any more in. now i know why my parents are so crazy...it's the love that makes you that way!

i love amelie

i love her. that's it.

the crock pot, the canned goods and the cupboard

Amelie loves to play in the cupboard--she takes everything out, lays down inside and plays some game that I haven't quite caught on to yet--a cross between peek a boo and pretend. She loves to hide inside--it's her own little quiet place!

my valentines

Amelie sure loves her papa! We took a bunch of pictures this past Sunday and Amelie was really hamming it up--of course, in nearly every picture her eyes are closed or she's looking the other way (I need to figure out the art of capturing images on a digital camera--not as easy as one might think!). I am so thankful for my two sweet hearts! What a blessing to be with them every single day!

friends!

amelie has the good fortune to be able to play with a fabulous little boy named josh while i'm off teaching art a few hours a week. God has been so good to bring good friends into our lives--His blessings are all around us! I can't believe how quickly this school year is going--more then half over with and I never thought that I would survive! Leaving her with a friend has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to do but she has so much fun and has learned so much about sharing and being independant--I can't help but think that it's a good thing even though it's been painful at times! She is such a big girl now, I can't believe she eats like an adult, potty's like one, talks like one...where did the time go?

sugar and spice and everything nice

I am so thankful for my little girl who is a joy to watch in everything.

Friends

Amelie and all her pals recently got together for a play date. It's such a blessing to have lots of kids our age to spend time with! Amelie played a lot with hannah who is a couple of months older then she is. They really love each other as you can see!
